Let
me tell you a story. It was a long time ago, there was a hamlet far
from anything luxurious, colourful and happening settlements. People in
the hamlet were living naturally away from humdrum of the city. It was
so remote that you have to take a trail through the forest to reach
there. The village lacks of road, electricity and Usable water. There
was person called Jagan in that village, once his mother has stomach
ailments. He must take his mother to the nearest city to get her
treatment done. But as there is no road connection, he with some the
villagers took the sick mother on foot. Due to the delay of reaching to
the hospital her situation went critical and after couple of hours of
struggle she deceased right there. Now years have passed Jagan has a
Successful well-settled business. But not everything has rosy picture
after so many years. Jagan's village still lacks the basic amenities
i.e. road, water, hospital, school. In the memory of Jagan's mother, he
with the help of villagers has built a hospital in the village, where
people would get the basic healthcare facility.
This was not a
liability of Jagan, In fact it was the job of selected representative.
But he took the lead and made that thing happen.
This
is just a story but in real world these things prevail as well. Just
take a Look at Corona Migrant Crisis. As country reels from the effects
of a nationwide lockdown. Here are some heartwarming stories of people
going the extra mile to help someone out.
- Sonu Sood
This bollywood actor is
not going to stop until he helps every migrant worker reach their
homes. He has helped migrants to reach home by arranging every mode of
transport you can think of. Sonu Sood has turned out to be the real-life
hero for the migrant workers and his fans are in awe of him. He has
arranged Buses, Trains and even chartered flights for migrants, so that
they can safely go back to their states.
- Chhayarani Sahu
She is a farmer by profession, hails from Odisha. She has
been growing vegetables on acres of farm. Despite being a farmer she
came ahead to help the needy Villagers. She distributed packaged
vegetables in the time of lockdown. which she could have been sold in
the market but she chose to distribute those in this time of crisis. She
and her family members have distributed over quintals of fresh
vegetables in nearby villages.
- Vikas Khanna
He
has provided over 10 millions of meals in the time of lock down. His
hunger mission was all over the India which was over 100 cities. He
helped Not only with foods but also with the Rations like Rice, lentils
flour, to old-age homes, orphanages and other needy.
- Noida Roti Bank
This is an initiative started by joining hands of locals. It was started with 400 Rotis from three societies initially.
As the time progressed people voluntarily helped and donated home made
Rotis, which later distributed to the needy people.By now they have
Distributed over 2 million Rotis, which is just outstanding.
There are many more examples where people came forward with the warm gesture of donating food, money, essential goods, help. They didn't had any obligations to serve or help the migrants' plight, instead they did. Now in the other-hand we have elected representatives in India. We have close to 4900 elected representative if we count all the MPs and MLAs in the states. They have been bestowed with great power and perks. Duty of an Elected is to serve the people but we didn't get to see that in this pandemic. If these celebrities and layman can help by joining hands, why not our mighty leaders can.
both selected and elected should step up, so that it will be easy to mitigate the plight of migrants. In the Difficult time it needs to be all hands on deck.
